‘I cried at like Top Gun’: Dakota Johnson and Chris Evans have a lot of movies they cry over

Materialists is coming out this week and it is a beautiful look at a modern romantic comedy. And we were lucky enough to speak with Chris Evans and Dakota Johnson about the new Celine Song film!

There is a moment in the film that was included in the trailers when John (Evans) says “When I look at you I see gray hair and wrinkles and children who look like you.” That, to me, is one of those rom-com lines that I know will make me emotional for years to come. It was beautiful and touching and I can see it being up there with some of the greats.

So I asked Johnson and Evans about movies that have those moments that make them emotional themselves. Both revealed that they cry a lot. In a very relatable moment, Johnson said that she “cried at like Top Gun.” Same, girl. Same. It allowed Evans to response that he’s cried over Les Misérables and that he’s seen it a lot and we all related to crying over the Pixar movie Inside Out. (But not before we had to all figure out which animated movie it was.)

But when it came to actual romantic comedies, Evans said that he loves the line from When Harry Met Sally when Harry (Billy Crystal) says “When you realize you want to spend the rest of your life with someone, you want the rest of your life to start as soon as possible.” Evans said “I think it’s just beautiful.” Well and then Johnson started to make fun of the bracelets that Evans was wearing and honestly, I’m team bracelet.

This is one movie you won’t want to miss, especially because Lucy (Johnson) is living our dream! Choosing between Chris Evans and Pedro Pascal?! Materialists is in theaters on June 13.
