‘They left my new house a mess’: Woman pays for white glove delivery from Ashley Furniture. Then she sees how they put her $1,000 bed together

One customer is calling on Ashley Furniture to do better after her experience with its installation workers.
In a viral TikTok, Hellkat1114 (@hellkat1114) says, “Literally a thousand-dollar bed and this is how you [expletive] put it together?” She then steps into the empty bed frame and wiggles one of the planks of wood. “They didn’t even tighten one [expletive] bolt,” she says as she jiggles several components of the frame to demonstrate. Additionally, a small black support is lying on the floor beneath the plank to which it’s supposed to be attached.
“This is your white glove service?” she questions.
She says the workers did a similarly poor job with her kitchen table and chairs. Again, she says, “Not one bolt was tightened.”
“What if I was an old lady that sat on one of these chairs that wasn’t put together and broke my [expletive] hip?” she questions.
In the video’s caption, she adds, “And they left my NEW HOUSE A MESS…packaging and syrafoam scraps from one end of my house to the other?!?! Of ALLLLLL the delivery people persons (movers, washer/dryer, fridge Matresses) NONE of them left and mess but YOUR delivery fellas left a HUGE one … @Ashley Furniture.”
‘I’d be livid’
In the comments section, viewers sympathized with the customer’s anger. They also questioned the bed and store’s quality, and why the price tag for the bed was so high.
User Bobbyq wrote, “That bed frame is no more than $199,” which Hellkat liked.
“Not nearly enough slates and leg supports,” user Tahnnie said. “Ashley furniture needs to do better, but they never have and probably never will.”
“I’ve never heard anything good about them,” another viewer wrote.
Hellkat isn’t alone in her frustration
Hellkat isn’t the only customer to go viral after a less-than-satisfactory installation experience. The Mary Sue recently reported on a Lowe’s customer who says the installation workers left before finishing the job.
Her elderly parents had ordered a set of French doors with glass panels. When the doors were installed, a worker told them the last step was to peel the film off the glass. Thinking it would be easy, the woman’s mother got to it after the worker left, only to realize the task was more tedious than initially expected. The film had been painted over, making it hard to remove. To make matters worse, the paint made a mess on the floor.

The woman determined that the task of removing the doors was too much for her parents. So, she called on Lowe’s to do better.
The Mary Sue reached out to Hellkat via email, TikTok comment, and direct message. It reached out to Ashley Furniture via press email.
